I use slot 21. I picked up a "Y" cigarette splitter and cut one of the sockets off and spliced that into slot 21. That way I can just plug the GPS cord into that. Cut's off with the ignition off (and door open). I can also unplug and take the cord to another vehicle if I need to, but the socket is always there.

stupid question, but where is the fuse box on the passenger side? I read the owners manual, and looked, but couldn't find it. Anyone got a picture?

Also, what amp fuse in the slot, as well as in line would be needed for a GPS?

Right next to the passengers left leg. You can see where the whole lower half of the panel on the right side of the console pops off. No bolts or screws, just tabs.

The #21 & #28 slots do not have a fuse, they are blank. Use the diagram in your Owners Manual to locate their location.

Just use a small spade terminal, slightly trimmed down to the size of a fuse prong, attached to one end of your wire and plug it into the slot you want to use. A small 12V test light will tell you which side is always hot or controlled by the key. For just a GPS a 10 amp fuse would be more than enough.

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up adding 2 outlets....1 in the front cubby, and 1 in the rear hatch. I hotwired both, but also wired in switches so I can turn them on and off as desired.

Rear:

Front (hard to photograph):

Now, I just have to figure out a mount for my GPS in that front cubby

I like that. But I would go with a more flush mounted rocker switch so you don't break it off loading something.

You beat me to it. Weekly groceries would snap the switch shown off in a minute if it was in ours. Before that happened the load would probably turn the switch on, though.

Hmmm....For my purposes, I didn't really have to account for the switch getting hit. This is my Monday - Friday, decent gas mileage, daily driver. If I am going to haul, I typically use my SUV (and cargo trailer if the load is that large). I can't say that we ever get enough groceries at a time for that to be an issue either. Typically, 4 to 5 plastic grocery bags worth of food holds me and my wife for a couple of weeks.

The main reason for adding it in the rear was for my portable air compressor. Thanks for the feedback though....at least a switch is a 5 minute fix, if I need to swap it out for a low profile one.
