key on engine off the fuel pump only runs for a few seconds.
The "book" says to use your Tech2 scanner to turn the pump on then prime the gauge then test engine off. (That is to prevent idiots from starting fires.) Then turn the fuel pump off and observe the pressure for 5 minutes; it should not go down more than 1 PSI in the first minute. (that is testing the check valve.) There are about 10 other steps involved to make sure no idiots can burn the garage down.

The way to do it without a Tech2 scanner is to connect your gauge, push the prime button with something to catch fuel on hand. Then start the engine, watch fuel pressure (should be 55-60 PSI, the turn engine off and observe the gauge for 5 minutes; it should not lose more than 1 PSI in the first minute.

Don't be an idiot; there will be gasoline fluid and vapor floating around a hot and electrified area. If you don't think you are smart enough to avoid gas fires, do it by the "book". A certain amount of competency is required. Like, don't light a cigar, don't have your jet power space heater blasting away etc.

Ok fuel pressure was 55 psi and stayed there after turning the engine off. Not gonna lie it is cold out so I didn't watch it for 5 minutes but I did watch it for over a minute and the needle didn't move.

Thanks,
Jessica

Good, now seeing as the code is for # cylinder, P0301, inspect the injector wire harness to ensure it’s not loose, the pins are straight and firmly connected, also inspect the coil on plug wiring harness, this could be as simple as a loose connector.

Try swapping the #1 coil pack with a different cylinder. See if the code changes.

I am going to try to look at the wires tonight when I get home from work. My cousin has to work tonight through Saturday night so I probably won't get to him until Sunday.

We did swap the coil packs back in December when we were first trying to diagnose this and it didn't change the code. I have no problem trying it again though. I will update as soon as I can.

Thanks,
Jessica

Ok wires, pins, and clips all look good and are firmly connected. We swapped coil 1 with 4 and still have the misfire on one. We noticed something today that we haven't before. There is a hissing sound coming from behind where the throttle body is. Could this be a leaking intake manifold?

Today on my way home from work I was coming over the Grand Island bridge. I was doing between 60 and 65. I gave it gas to get around another car and the rpms went up to 6000.. I had to let off the gas for it to shift. After that it didn't do it again. Don't know if that's another symptom but figured I'd add it in.

Thanks,
Jessica

Inspect that area of the intake for that hissing, it could be your problem.

We were trying to but there is so much in front of it that it was real hard to see. My cousin said that's beyond his capabilities so I'm going to try to get ahold of the mechanic who installed the engine tomorrow and see what he says.

I feel a little closer.

Thanks
Jessica

Can your cousin do a smoke test?
