Twice in the last week my 06 has had a problem with the power steering. Both times involved slick roads and a minor slide. After the slide, the DIC showed "Power Steering" and the power was gone. After putting the HHR in park and restarting, the warning was gone and the steering was back to normal. Anybody else had this problem?

 

Tony, this is a long shot, but have you checked all the fuses to make sure they are seated. Could possibly be causing the problem.

Checked the fuses. All seated ok. Must be related to the traction control somehow. Has only done it when a slide has occurred.

 

It just won't stop!!!

 

Well............. the power steering is acting up more often. I'll just be driving down the road and it will quit. Did it 5 times in one day. Going to the dealer Monday to have it checked out with a couple other problems.

 

In the '06 I had the power steering came on the DIC took to dealership they took it for a test drive and heard the knock I had complaned about before They replaced the steering column.
