I had a whistler 1675 i bought in 2002, worked great but i had a chance to upgrade with a whistler upgrade program just purchased an XTR-690 the lastest and greatest....alot of law enforcements have that new POP (1/15 second) which this detector picks up.
I agree with the snoopy do your research for your needs.
Just FYI the lazer part of the radar detector works better when on the dash or lower on the windshield. Law enforcers aim the lazar radar at a headlight or your license plate.
