I tried this pushing firmly , all that happened was popping the mirror off its base on the windshield.
It looks like you pressed a little too firmly! Is the mirror broken or were you able to snap it back together?

The mirror itself just snapped back on, but the little plastic piece that hides the wire was a bit problematic. Need small hands to fit between mirror and windshield.

it's on sort of a double hinge...if that helps one is right behind the mirror itself and the other is at the base near the windshield...

so my wife is on her way home after picking up the car from the tint shop and the mirror is all out of place. she tried to move it and she said it won't budge. she says its about 2" lower than before because all she sees now is the backseat. how much pressure is recommended to move this because I don't want to break it off the windshield?

I would say to hold the mounting plate firm before you push. I had no problems moving mine with a firm nudge, but one member broke his off! Try holding the base while pushing on the pivot bar. Once it starts going it will move freely up.

man that mirror is stiff. I kept pushing upward on it little by little until it started to move. it does take a bit to get it going but once it started it was all fine. thanks.

I hear you! No danger of it moving when you hit a bump!

Glad to hear you got it re-arranged.
