Next Step

Spent the weekend working on the rear axle and suspension. I had some steel parts water jet cut and I started to install them. Mostly mounting brackets and reinforcing pieces. The RWD framing is mostly done now. Just about to fit mounting brackets for the coil overs and cut the rear trailing arms to length. I'm going to have to come up with something pretty trick for the panhard bar since my coil overs will be sitting right where it should go. I'll figure that out once the coil overs are set.

this is coming along very nicely...I didn't think you were going to chop the top off of the car.

This may be one of the most unique HHR's on the forum.

I am excited to see the final product!!!!

Panhard Bar

That's a pretty neat idea on the panhard bar. I think I'm going to have to go forward tho... I'm using up the fuel tank real estate quickly. Maybe I'm just over reacting. Sometimes things are not as crowded as it seems.

Rear wheel drive HHR

Have you considered an adjustable four link with a wishbone locator. It is an old drag racing system that allows the rear wheels to travel up and down in a perfectly vertical path whereas a panard bar has travel in a parrallogram path. The adjustable four link is in effect an adjustable traction bar. I have attached a couple of pictures of the system on one of my street rods.

Lasater, there is guy down here in the "OC" that has a PT Cruiser with a Hemi V8 in it. The engine is all stock and is smog legal. My buddy's speed shop built the car for him. Fast Eddies Speed Shop in the city of Orange.

I love what your doing.

Another idea is something we used on the quick change rears in the late model dirt cars...its called a Jbar..used in tight areas as the quick change setups have a gazillion adjustments, up to 6 shock dampers, torq link, 4 links,,bird cages etc etc..anyways it mounts the the front of the diff where theres more room...theres also bolt on brackets that allow it to set on top of the axle tubes..
