Nice, are you gonna flare the fenders to cover the tires when these hang outside ?

I thought I'd have an easy day; just jack it up rotate the tires and put new hubs on the rear. When I took the LR drum off I exclaimed "where the hell is all this wetness coming from?"

Would you believe that there seem to be NO wheel cylinders in Virginia or a 3 business day shipping to here?

Next Saturday: rear brake job.


My intermittent brake judder seems to have gone away with the new hubs all around.

I went yesterday out to Erie, picked up some packages from things I had purchased awhile ago, drove home in snow storm and woke up this morning to the wrong end of a winter weather advisory!! 4 inches of more white stuff!!!

Washed it this morning from our spring trip to Folly beach, SC last weekend. averaged 27-28 mpg, not great but I was running 75-80 mph most of the way On the way home my wife said if I bought an SS panel, she would like to drive the black panel . Boy did that open a door! More to come...John

 

Don- not even rebuild kits ?

 

Go into a "National Chain" auto parts store these days and ask them for a wheel cylinder rebuild kit, chances are they'll look at you like you've just been dropped off by a space ship.

JC Whitney offers an Omix-Ada universal fit wheel cylinder repair kit for the HHR. It's only $9.93 but I'd rather deal with a seeping wheel cylinder for a day or two, than risk my butt on a kit designed for a Jeep CJ, which is a "close enough" fit for an HHR.

 

I didn't bother checking on kits. The last hone I owned died 20 years ago and I did check the price $18. 2 new cylinders are $20.

145,000 on the rear hubs. Not really "bad", just an annoying Whirr sound. And my brake judder disappeared, except for what is caused by the brake fluid on the shoes. That feels different.

Not enough leakage to be noticeably at the reservoir, but enough to make everything wet inside the drum.

Nothing at all special about the cylinders 3/4 inch bore, etc. Advance couldn't even order them, NAPA said "the middle of next week", PEPboys lied that Fedex could have them here on Monday, AutoZone said maybe next week, Carquest said "strange that you would want them MOST HHRs have disc rears". The guy at Carquest wouldn't listen about SS,LT,LS. I guess he thought that they made a hell of a lot of SS.

I also put Spring air in the tires, then it snowed on Sunday.

 

I'm at 154,000 ish miles , but no annoying Whirr sound, I have a spare set of fronts but no rear hubs, I might just order a set, I did see sets with ABS for $95.00 but non for non ABS. hhhmmm maybe I'll just install those and have a open port for the sensor wiring!!
