last weekend i got the pads from keyless fix. they work great. this weekend i did the control arms and rotated the tires. now my steering wheel is not straight when going that way!!! time for an alignment. i also hear a chattering/bearing noise but i cannot tell where it is from. did the hubs last year plus no grinding!! it doesnt pull either stopping soft or hard.

 

Saturday Red ended up on a long gravel road in the rain. In my almost 6 years of ownership, I don't think it had ever been that filthy. Got it cleaned up just in time yesterday for the next round of showers, but this time I kept on the blacktop! A little wipe down this morning in 40 degree weather and I'm good to go 🎅🏻

Did the usual Sunday ritual, gave Ron a bath, checked all the fluid levels. Then I researched some fe3 or fe5 suspension parts to go with drop springs. Found that almost non of the struts or shocks from your usual autoparts stores are labeled for the specific suspension. Guess its time to place some internet orders.

 

Still keeping them under cover, we just had a beauty of a hailstorm here, 3/4" to 1" size stones for fifteen solid minutes.

Ya'll got that over with by Friday, now ! I don't want any hail damage rolling thru on Friday afternoon!!

 

Washed, polished, and waxed the HHR. Now there's a severe thunderstorm watch for 70 mph winds and 1.5 inch hail. No garage to pull into, so I really hope the storms stay far away tonight.

 

In a "worst case scenario" like you're looking at skyedog, head to a public parking garage until the storms pass. You'll be under cover and safe from the hail.

 

Unfortunately the nearest public parking garage is about 15 miles from my house in the sticks. There is a barn on my property and last night got me thinking that I may be able to raise the height of the door a bit so I could squeeze the HHR in it in case of a hail storm or something. Time to get out the beer and chainsaw.

 

I cleared the front sunroof drains on the door jambs with a trusty piece of coat hanger wire. Took an 8" long piece, bent the last 1-1/2" at a 90. Fed it right through the center. Rotated in a circular motion, a clump of mud popped out and water drained. Blew some air through the hole at the top with the tube from a turkey baster. (bulb removed). No restriction, should be good to go.
