Driving on the way to work this morning became part of an impromptu mini caravan of HHRs for a couple of miles. Two silver & my Imperial Blue.

Quite a few years ago I had that happen but there were 5 or 6 of us... I thought it was a meet & greet cruse I wasn't invited to...

Today , changing the rear springs, the stock 18 hole steelies have a 42mm offset, while the WV rally’s have a 35 mm offset and with the new quarter panels there is contact.
I don’t want to cut or grind on the fresh sheet metal , so I’ll install the taller springs that came in my original Canuck Motorsports lowering kit.

Today is also 4 years since my bypass surgery for my heart artery issues. I’m still nuts as ever, my friend Dan’s wife , Linda came over and reminded me to wait till Dan came over to change out the springs. It’s nice that she reminds me not to get into deep, before I get into medical distress.

Well after a while and a short rain delay, Dan and I got the rear coils swapped out.
The old ones installed in 2012, are 1 inch shorter, but the ride heights aren’t that much different. We took a ride to Fort Erie for ice cream, 4 adults and no bottom out, fender rubs or rough bouncy ride.

Old springs, 26 1/8 ish

Old spring out 10 inches height

New springs 10 3/4 inches

Yes we didn’t forget the brake line bracket nuts

We only removed the lower shock bolts, reinstalled them and torqued to 92 ft/lbs

New springs installed.

Kinda sorta got a picture of my shoulder and the fender lip rub, sprayed that with Rust Check for now, in case of further rubbing.

26 3/4 inches, 1/2 inch higher.

Did the 137k oil change and a wash. Received running boards via UPS, got them Plasti-Dipped. Need to install, but first a trip to Missouri to visit family.
