While on vacation last week I had struts, shocks, control arms, pads, rotors, & spark plugs installed. Today I got an alignment done. Drives like new!

Drove to store, got out and smelled something electrical going bad. On drive home noticed water temp going up (hit 238) . Got home and applied cooling fans (leaf blower). Underhood fuse #40 blown. Quick walk to Autozone and bought new cooling fan and fuse. Changed them out according to HHR.net insttructions and 'WALA'. Connencted OBD reader and cleared code.Took test drive and temp never went over 192. The change out did take almost 4 hours as the temperature here in Phoenix was quite high.
Thanks again for this site.

It rained earlier this afternoon, so before dark I went out and spray-waxed and dried the HHR. As soon as I was done it rained again.

Might want to edit your post. (Calling sleeper a "slepper" is a typo I hope)

YES it was a typo. Forgive my fingerness.
So this morning I took Toughie on a 25 mile in town drive and never saw a temp over 196. Outside temp was 105 at 10am.
I must have had a fan issue for quite awhile as I came to accept 205-210 as normal.
Now to find that annoying rattle.

Lower grille

Not sure about blocking off most of the lower opening is such a great Idea since most of the air used for cooling come through that opening.
