Swapped in the SS rear axle, and found a little rust spot:
Had to torch 2 bolts off as well
Good news is if I hadn't done this, a good pothole or RR tracks could have yanked this right out. Now I just need to find where the solid rail ends, and fab up a piece and weld it in.. The rocker is pretty bad too, but I'll take care of that at a later date. Guess my panel is going to be a driveway queen for a while.
Definitely hit it with a sandblaster and rust converter then undercoat everything except where you have to weld. There are cheap undercoating guns that are offset to fish into tight spaces.
Got back to work on my wife's Panel. Welded the brackets a few months ago, cut the wood and trimmed to fit yesterday. First coat of Spar Varnish today!! Getting close!!

Hey Sleeper,
I think Hvymax was talking about the AMF days.
You gotta admit, back then, Harley was not a proud name.
Lonwane-
Point taken,
However if you are into history, If it were not for AMF, Harley might not be around today.. That & the diehard bikers kept it going. (me being one of them),.
AMF had the deep pockets to get Porsche & others involved in the development in 2 new Harley engines.. The EVO & the NOVA V-4 project.
Then before AMF put HD on the auction block, Willie G & other senior members got together & were able to buy back HD.. & w/empty pockets after the buy back, they had to pick 1 engine to put into production, & they chose the V-2 Evo which changed history.
If you had a clue, I would respond to your BS.. Ride that pos ricer & smile...
Ok, you two, play nice or your both in a time out!
My 1973 74 inch AMF Police HD dripped more oil then was in it! I made a tray to slide under it to catch it all .
I had that bike for three summers, tore it apart to reseal it 3 times, the local HD dealer made me an offer to buy it for a customer so I gladly sold it!
