the one and only key I got with it has the slot, so it's probably an original. I was told that it could be upgraded with a remote (a relief since I can only unlock the car from the drivers door, and then run around to open my wife's door), so I ordered a key fob and extra key from Amazon. My locksmith wasn't able to program the fob OR the key, but he had the proper chip key blank on his truck, which he cut and programmed. It doesn't have the Chevy logo on it, but it's a small hole, interestingly. I'll call a dealer Monday with my VIN to see if there's an open recall. Thanks for the info
I got a p0700 a few weeks ago, and assumed that atf level was low or high. It took me about a week to get it on a lift, only to find out the level was perfect. I dropped the pan, and refilled the atf and repeated hoping to get a full atf change. Code was still there, and it was a day later that I couldn't shift from 2nd into 3rd. I also realized on my code reader that I could see that I was getting the p0977 under a different option.
Spent 7 hours today replacing the two shift solenoids. But all seems well!

Good work! Isn’t it a great feeling to save money and fix it yourself! It’s a pretty easy job, just depends on your pucker level! When you lower the engine cradle.
Today is cancer exercise class at 11:00 , then PICC line clean and bandage at 3:30 some time in between we will go for a nice lunch . Then for real exciting driving, we can drive over the new concrete apron and park in our own driveway!

Glad to report that after tightening the fuse block halves and reseating all of the relays, I have no electrical issues or thrown codes.
Again my sincere thanks to all that contribute to this site.
Now to find and repair that pesky oil leak.
