On Thanksgiving Day, the below thread saved my butt!

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...lls-car-58703/

Earlier this week, I replaced two of the three trans mounts on my 2011 LT. After Thanksgiving dinner, I decided to replace the mount under the fuse box. I disassembled and removed the fuse box, then changed out that trans mount ( battery was disconnected). When I reassembled the car, I started it up and the weirdness began. Rear wiper moved on its own, and when I moved the switch to on, it killed the engine and multiple error messages appeared. None of the front lights nor the horn worked. I quickly checked the basics, found nothing out of the ordinary, so I shut hood and walked away.

Later, I found the above thread. So the next morning, I removed the fuse box lid, loosened the bolts and unlatched the clips, and found the two smaller harness terminals were loose! When I tightened them the night before, the bolts felt tight and cranking on them made disturbing clicking noises. Anyway, I loosened all the the terminal bolts, reset all of the terminal plugs into the fuse panel, tightened them again (noise be damned), pulled the 50 amp fuse next to the battery for a few minutes and reconnected the battery and fuse. Crossing my fingers, I started the car and all is well! During the test drive, it never acted up and still hasn’t.

I washed it Saturday and put up Christmas decorations today.

I know this is a long post, but my appreciation is huge! That’s why I am a premium member.

I can't believe I did this......
Saturday we had plans for my youngest son to come over with his girlfriend and son for Thanksgiving dimmer. so I was up at 6 AM to park the bird in the oven, and we started on making up all the trimmings. About 1/2 hour before they were to arrive (late as usual) he called and his 2022 Jeep was making noise. I ended up driving over to his place and took a look. Yup making noise, sounds like a bearing squeal, being a turbo car, I said don't drive it . No shops open and the dealer can get him in about a week from now. Plus it should be towed... Overnight we got 7 inches of the white stuff... Sunday he called all freaked out and I ended up driving over to pick him up, he came back to my home and drove off in my HHR... Not sure when it is coming back.... Guess I will be shoveling out the back yard to move a trailer and pulling out the old Land Rover. I guess we know why I keep it around. Hope it starts...My final remarks before he drove away was... Don't mess up my HHR!!! So nice to have kids and grandkids..

Today we went for a drive and looked at a 2010 HHR SS automatic, seems like it hasn’t been serviced or cleaned up yet. It’s gonna need headlamps and all 4 wheel arches are bubbling the paint, there’s a weird line of damage on the drivers side pillar by the back hatch, it was locked so I don’t know what the mileage is or the condition off the carpet or seats. The usual wear and tear is visible on the steering wheel and the waterfall area. I called the office to ask but got no answer. Sweetie and I will pass on this one! I am thinking like I’m 30 years old with a full shop to go over this SS but my 71 year old brain is telling me , to many parts and work and I will still have a $7,500.00 used SS. Let alone possibly of turbo engine and transmission problems.
I don’t feel lucky with this car

This morning a box that arrived last evening had to be delivered, an air fryer for our nephew.

You moved in the correct direction -- away. Perhaps inexplicably, serious rust work is not economically justifiable on these cars in most cases.

Especially structural rust in the rear axle attachment points to the unibody area, and the rocker panel structural area by the front engine cradle fastener where the rear lca bolts go. This legally cannot be replaced or repaired by welding in new patch pieces. Mr. Law doesn’t like the idea.

Yesterday we drove to Hamilton for my 1st year follow up colonoscopy after my cancer tumour removal. Wow a year after and I’m still here!
Sweetie , my designated driver chauffeured me home and even stopped to pickup some Thai food for dinner!

Today, we went out looking for a pair of boots for Sweetie, ended up ordering on line, stores didn’t have her size, style she wanted. Then we cruised in comfort , down to Fort Erie for a coffee and a pastry, then home. I fixed the 2 dead strings of Christmas lights and she went for a visit with her friends across town.

Yesterday, drove to a friends house and installed pull down attic stairs.
Finished it off with some homemade Toll House cookies and coffee.
On the way me SISU crossed 238k.

Hopefully I will find out on the 9th when/if I get my HHR back. been driving my Land Rover Disco 1 and I really miss the HHR. more room inside for my legs, I may have to either get rid of the Land Rover, or make up a mounting bracket(s) to move the seat back about 4 inches. Definitely a summer job. The Land Rover does a great job off-road just a bit crowded inside.
