I drove Corvettes from 1965 to 1986...Had other cars and trucks and was a Chevy "NO 1" fan. Met Zoro at Bloomington back in 1985 or 86. Have his signature. Followed Chevrolet racing from the Chapperall ?, Hall Racing

I have track time at Road Atlanta, Charolette, and had a guest pass to drive a lap at Sebering in 1974. Was a unplanned Co-Sponsored of a Formuls 3 car at Longbeach in 1980 and 81.

Been driving BMW's past 10 years..have three, Have a 2004 M-3.

After driving a HHR leased from Enterprise in Florida during a business trip was reintrodiced to Chevrolet engineering. I drove the HHR for about 1000 miles over four days and was pleasently shocked. Didn't expect the features and handling to perform as they did.
I have to admit the electronics on the HHR exceeded the electronics of the BMW M-3. Try and figure what is going on when the "tire failure" light comes on on the M-3...You get out and use your trusty tire guage...Also liked the trip odometers. The HHR won't accelerate as fast as the BMW M-3. Well maybe but that isn't everything. If driving a status symbol is all there is to driving... We're in trouble as Americans.

I plan to order the HHR 2009 SS with 5-speed and just about every option I can find. Checked out Edmonds and the SEMA show car.

I plan to get back to American and drive a vehicle that drives our economy. Maybe all of us should review what is important to our lifestyle. We might even create a new different kind of driving symbol.

Maybe there might even be a Z HHR SS created to honor Zoro

Hint..Hint..Is Chevrolet Engineering reading this?

Talking

We had a 2005 Yukon, I was making a trip to Atlanta (220 miles from here) to pick up my equipment with a 6x10 cargo trailer, and it was dead on empty, I stopped to fill up and couldn't fill up! The pump stopped at $75 and it wasn't full. Since this would be the last "long trip" I'd need to make pulling something I said right then "soon as I get home we're getting the wife something smaller and more fuel efficient". I also noticed the transmission was acting up a bit as we pulled back into town towing the trailer full of hardware and the Yukon was at 50K miles so I figured that was my warning reminder "trade it in pronto!".

So this monday we went car shopping.

Her criteria: Onstar (she loved it on the Yukon), roomie, sits up high.
My criteria: FUN, I drive the cars in my sig, so I wanted her to get something I'd want to drive TOO (hated driving the Yukon). My other criteria is when the haggling is done I want to finance no more than 25K at the bank (silly criteria really but it's MY criteria).

Difference in trade in and payoff on the Yukon was about 3K so we had 28K to play with.

What's under 28K, FUN, has Onstar (or something similar), gets good gas mileage, and can carry a full load of groceries and maybe a decent sized box or two without having to use the back seats for anything? (sits high I got her to bend on). (Having 4 doors is also a criteria neither of us mentioned but it was a must have too). I could think of really only one car, the HHR SS.

So off we went for a test drive, and she loved it, I loved it, when the dust settled we financed under 20K and everyone was happy.

Oh I got 11.0 mpg on the nose pulling that trailer to Atlanta and back, 450 miles, over $150 in gas burned in one day!

I'll get pictures up of the HHR and into my sig this evening hopefully.

Mazda3 i-touring. I was really torn between getting my SS or the mazdaspeed3. The speed3 had the same leg room as my regular 3, which was a turn off since we'll have 2 car seats in there soon enough. One main thing that was turning more toward the mazda though was the interior...Chevy needs to do something about theirs cuz that plastic is pretty horrible. Living in California, I just wanted more power, more room, but not pay too much more at the pump...I really hated getting stuck behind slow people because I knew my car wouldn't get up and go fast enough and I'd miss my exit. I love it! (of course my husband tends to think it's his sometimes although he's got his little project car already)

A 01 honda CR-V. A very reliable vehicle but hard to drive in close quarters and even though gas mileage was about 20 mph around town the HHR avg 23-24 around town and fits into tighter areas.

Just traded in our 2004 Chevy Silverado ext cab LS. Bought it with 3 miles on it. Traded with with 99,650. 350 miles from my warranty running out. Loved that Silverado, Im still pretty upset about it, but I need a cheaper, smaller and better family car. My wife will be using the HHR as a kiddo go getter. Not gonna miss the $86 fillup we had last week in the Silverado.

We still have ...
98 Acura CL 3.0 V6 (22-23mpg)
94 Honda Magna 750 (30mpg motorcycle)
92 GMC Typhoon (AWD Turbo V6 gas guzzler)
85 GMC Jimmy (AWD LT1 V8 project gas guzzler)
