What kind of car did you give up for your HHR?
May be giving up an 08 Tacoma V6 DCSB TRD OR w/ 31k miles plus put a few G's in my pocket....Am I nuts or what? Everyone I know thinks I am crazy to give up the Taco for an HHR. Even with $5K on top. Saw a 2011 2LT loaded with 13K miles the dealer wants $14,9 for but I think he will take $13.5 and put $5500 on top.

Cars are apples and oranges but both Chevy, Just curious. My move is a bit more "drastic" if I make it. I will have to find a 2010 or 2011 HHR LT2 still under factor Warranty for less than $11K for me to jump.
Over time your Tacoma is going to depreciate a lot less. Unless you need the cash in your pocket I'd keep the Tacoma hands down. I love my HHR and have been very happy with it overall but I went from a POS Ford Exploder to the wagon.
It's not about needing the cash in as much as I just don't use it and a smaller vehicle would allow more space in the garage for the bike which I use 80% of the time. Plus I would have a car my step son could use as he learns to drive and ultimately own.
I really thought the HHR would be discounted as heavily as the PT cruisers are. I would buy the PT if it had the same cargo room without removing seats. They can be had for cheap. Well its nice to have options and the HHR is still a really cool looking car bone stock even. I would put $1500 aside for fixits tough. Self warranty LOL.
BTW I love what you did with your car.....That's the fun of the HHR. Inexpensive exterior customizing. (From someone who is used to paying $150 for just the mounts to mount $600 Saddle bags...)
This dealer has something I would jump at with $11500 cash back

Yeah Thanks Chief for the reality check. I am beginning to realize the costs of driving the Taco will be lower going forward than anything i am looking at. I The only way I thought I could give up the Tacoma is to cash out well over $10K and buy an HHR or other small late model SUV at close to wholesale. Pipe dream. LOL

i got out of my 99 Saturn SL2 with 127,000 miles. i had alot of fun with that car! sux to drive a fast car slow but it was fun to drive that slow car fast!!!
so far, since april, i am really enjoying my 2006 HHR 2LT with a 2.4 but between the 2 of course the mpg was better in the saturn and that car was MUCH cheaper to maintain and fix. but it seems the HHR fits my requirements for the family and i can still have a little fun.
