What kind of car did you give up for your HHR?
I had a 2005 Trailblazer. On occasion I miss the added ground clearance and 4x4... as well as the more capacious ****pit, but for the most part, nearly doubling my fuel economy with a car that doesn't give up much utility to the larger one... I'm pretty pleased.
Oh yeah... the TB was a towing monster compared to the HHR, so I need to work on fixing up my old pickup for that sort of thing. But I was going to do that anyway.

2005 Mazda MPV--we had 3 large dogs and we had taken out the middle seat of the MPV and put a small mattress down for them. They mostly wanted to ride in the back seat anyway and, if no one was in the passenger seat, one of them would always come up in that seat. Got a lot of laughs from people driving past.
We'd had 3 vans and used them this way and I just wanted something different for the dogs. I'm diehard retro--we have a REAL '57 Tbird and retro years of the Mustang and VW Beetle, so when I saw our 2011 HHR--which really beat the PT Cruiser looks--I had to have one. Just got it this week.
We'll keep the middle seats down (the main selling point besides the HHR's great exterior look) and put down pads for the dogs there (we're down to only 2 dogs now). Hope no one takes offense that we are getting the HHR as our "dog car."--that's a compliment as far as I'm concerned. Love the looks.
