what is wrong with people these days?
I looked around and didn't notice any cameras in the general area. But yes, I know that door dings are a fact of life. I'm just annoyed 'cause I've only had the car 2 weeks...and my PT Snoozer went two years without getting one! Just the dumb luck of it all.
Fortunately, there is a PDR guy in my complex who said he's down with fixing it for cheap. So, next weekend it'll be gone, gone, gone (really gone)!

I've been very fortunate. I have no door dings after almost two years. I did, however, notice a large scratch on the top of the left rear fender. It's on the part that leans in. It almost looks like someone scratched it with their purse as the walked by.
I try to stay away from the large SUVs but you never know who will park next to you once you're in the store. I found I can open my door all the way next to almost any vehicle so there should always be plenty of room for them to get out also. People just don't respect other's hard earned property any more!

I always park at a hiking distance--as far out in the lot as practical. My theory is that the lazy arse inconsiderates are too lazy arse to hike the lot length to the store entry doors. Also, if the lot has curbed islands for bushes or trees (landscaping), I'll try to park next to the curb of one of those so as to leave only one side of my car exposed to the unknown.
That sucks man.
One thing my mother told me years ago is that if you have to park next to someone, look for cars that are at least a new/valuable as what you are driving.
In theory, there less of a chance of getting dings, etc. In practice, who knows.
I try to park near Bimmers and Mercedes, but they aren't too plentiful at China-Mart

yep, happened to me on my previous new cars/trucks. Sometimes tho, you just have to accept that it was just a plain old accident and nothing malicious. Picture a young mother or father with 2 or 3 small children...all scrambling outta the car with the doors flung open. Could you imagine being that parent and having to leave a note on somebodies dented car explaining who you are and what happened? you might be paying for a dozen dented cars a month. Thats why i think people shrug it off and sneak away. I am far from being a saint, but sometimes you have to say to yourself ''' People before cars.''
You never can tell where it's safe to park. You might pull into a spot between a couple of newer looking cars, then one of them leaves and some "Moron" with a jacked up pickup will pull in and cream your fender 'cause he can't see where he's going! That's probably what happened to my Wife several Months ago in a super market parking lot.
No note or anything!! Cost $1,200 to replace the fender and paint it, and the door, to blend things together again!
As an aside, today I had another incident that makes me ask, "what's wrong with people these days."
I stopped by a local gas station to put a few bucks in the tank. While driving up to the pump, I noticed a very animated conversation taking place at the window…with the customer in question very upset due to the attendant being too busy with a conversation on her cell phone to assist him with the pump. He drove off without purchasing.
Thinking nothing of the previous incident, I walked up to the window, giving the attendant a $20.00 bill and specifically stating I wanted only $20.00 in gas. She did not acknowledge my presence, kept talking on her cell phone and took my money.
I proceeded to pump gas, cleaning out some trash in my car and generally taking care of a few things before the pump stopped. Since I figured the transaction was going along properly, I didn’t take note of the fact that the pump was not set to stop at $20.00, but $40.00 (it stopped at exactly that amount). Note…I expressly asked for only $20.00 in gas.
It wasn’t until said rude attendant came storming out of the booth, demanding $20.00 that I figured out I’d pumped too much. Now, I wouldn’t be irritated if it were my carelessness and an attempt on my part to steal gas. But it was clearly not MY carelessness at work here. I purposely asked for only $20.00 in gas and got $40.00. Fortunately, I had the extra $20.00 in my pocket. What would have happened had I not been $20.00 richer? And why is it that this attendant couldn’t be bothered with validating customers with, at the very least a thank you, until there was an apparent mistake (on her part) that brought her storming out of the booth with foul language?
I just wonder sometimes...what's wrong with people today?
