My windshield washer is not working. I first want to test the connection to the pump. How can I do that by my self. I have a volt meter, but I can't be in the car to operate the switch and out by the pump and connector to check the connection at the same time. And no one to help me do it.. Anyone have any suggestions.

 

Did you check relay #39 and fuse #49 in the underhood fuse block?

 

Do you hear the pump when you push the washer button? Does the rear hatch window sprayer work?

 

Have you looked to see if the reservoir is full? This cold weather has a habit of freezing the pump bushing and causing the liquid to fall to the floor.

 

Is the rear window washer inoperative as well? That would eliminate a problem with the switch.

The single pump serves both front and rear washing. There are two outlets and the fluid exits one or the other depending upon the direction of rotation. It does fail and I have replaced two that seemed to simply seize so the impeller woyldn't rotate. Replacement was without difficulty. Mostly. The gasket can be tricky and can leak if not installed correctly. There are other threads in these forums covering this.
