My 2001 Malibu (major POS) was a prime example that why extended warranties are useful - the only thing that didn't fail was the transmission - pretty much everything else was replaced, including the engine.

On my last vehicle I had I got the GMPP extended warranty for it. After the B-B had expired, the oil pan gasket went. $550 repair job. $550 that I did not have. GMPP warranty paid it in full, no cost to me other than the initial GMPP purchase cost, which was added to the original cost of the vehicle.

My main incentive for wanting the additional coverage is as I mentioned before...I put on almost 35K a year on my car so after 1 year my bumper to bumper excluding the power train is shot. So if this time next year my power seat decides to do the flounder I'm SOL. Same goes for the A/C compressor, power window motors and just the general crap that the 3/36K covers. I would love to push those things out to 100K as I'll hit that well before 4 years anyways.

Snoopy...didn't you say in another thread about how your power windows motors gave up the ghost on different vehicles multiple times?(from memory, I might be wrong)

Also Warranty Direct is a pretty large company if not the largest after market warrant place out there...have been around quite awhile...has nobody ever dealt with them?

When I worked at a dealership never heard of them. Best thing about a GMPP is any GM dealer will take it no questions asked.

yep, you are correct. Most covered under warranties. But like you said, after your first year, "it's gone".

Oh, paid for 3...one 93' Cadillac, one 90' Lumina, one 2000 Malibu...don't remember the pricing but in the area of $300-$500.

The dealer I got my HHR offers the one you mentioned. Or maybe something similar. I did get it, but you do have to read the finer print. Somethings have to go thru your insurance, (vandlism and such) but overall it seems like a good policy. I will have to dig out the paper work and get you the info. I think the company the GM dealers use is from your area, and not all dealerships offer it. But from what I read, if your so many miles from the original dealership of purchase, contact them and arrangements can be made for repair/paint

I just looked thru my extended warranty, or what ever you want to call it. mine is for 72/72 and is $0.00 deductable. The cost was a bit more, but was added to the price of the car, and a bit of piece of mind.

I haven't dug it out with my paper work yet, as soon as I do I will give ya some info or drop off a e-mail to you. I do know the one I have only covers the vertical surfaces, so windshield chips are out, and so are any hail or stone chips to the top of the car. But then you maybe talking about something differant from what I got.
