Untill I see reviews from someone who has had it done, I dont know if I will do this. Or if I do I may wait till I am ready to trade it in for one that was done right the first time.

Maybe since the parts are not ready and no notices have been sent to the owners some dealers are always in the dark anyway

My other concern is with the amount of headliner noise issues reported on this site Will this recall make it worse? I for one have not had the rattle issue and don't want to start having one. Maybe better defensive driving is called for.

Not intended as a slam on dealers...Thanks ChevyMgr for the info
I agree on how much that pad is really protecting the owners, but I am not an engineer and I don't know for sure that is what will happen on the HHRs. Dropping the headliner is a minor operation on these vehicles although anything can happen during a repair so yes noise could occur and the dealer would be responsible to fix them.

Remember, this recall is being instigated by our government, not GM and the repair has to be approved by our government.

If you called the 800 customer assistance number you were talking to a person that can only pull your VIN up on a computer and see if GM has assigned a recall to it.

No VIN's will show this recall until the repair procedure is sent to the dealers and the parts are available.

MYHO is don't fret it for now. Yes it is a Safety Recall but as you can see from the cobalt pictures it is not an in-depth repair. The repair on the cobalt took less then 1 hour to complete.

We like the dark, that way we/you don't notice the greasy hands.

Also, the HHR already had a 5star side impact rating before this. SO does this give it a 5.1.......

The recall has now been released, although GM did not pre-ship the parts to the dealers We are ordering 20 today. I have no idea when they will arrive. You can now contact your local Chevy dealer to verify your vehicle is involved. But they will have to order the parts also. It appears to be almost identical to the cobalt recall as show in a prior post on this thread.

Are we required to have this done, since it is a safety recall? I am very hesitant about having my roof lining messed with. I don't have any problems right now. I feel this will set me up for future issues.

No one can force anybody to have a recall completed. People decline to have them done at times. But be aware if you take the vehicle in to a chevy dealer for other repairs or mainenance, they may do it with out asking, so you should state to them that you don't want to have it done. You can always do it before you sell or trade it.
