Mine was slightly wonky when I got the car (took 10-12 presses to get it open) so I looked at it.
The little bar had just worked itself partly loose and was at an angle.
Easy fix: moved it where it needed to be and dripped some gorilla glue to keep it there. Works perfectly now.
