Having the SS for a full 24 hours
, I can say I really enjoy this car. Have done a combo of highway & local driving, mostly highway though, hit 100mph on the way home tonight, open highway, no one around just the SS & me.
Felt great, did not take long to get there, feels very stable at speed. I have noticed though, that going around the exit ramp, might have a slight body roll, depending on what speed you take the ramp. Comparing to the G5, with the 15" wheels that I traded, the G5 which is lower to the ground, actually felt a tad better in the curve. Will have to wait and see if any different type sway bars get developed for the SS by the aftermarket.
Temp seems to run between 199 & 205 degrees on the road. Tire pressure builds up to another 2psi on the highway at speed, although the LF tire showed an additional 1 to 2 higher PSI than the other 3 tires.
Getting used to the Boost guage, was up to around 10 lbs, will have to learn how to use this guage. The Turbo feels good when it spools up.
I am so glad, I told the dealer not to polish the SS for delivery, as they were going to use the buffer
, so as a result the paint is swirl free
.
I did run it through the car wash, before coming home tonight. We have this self service wash, you sit in the car, with Oasis equipment, which nothing touches the vehicle, but the wash & wax. It doesn't dry completely, but I am only a few miles from home, so I finish drying in my garage. I did notice however
some water spots on the roof, probably from when they washed it, or from sitting outside in March. Checking out the Corvette Forum, found a thread that someone used on their Vette, a 50/50 mix of white vinegar & distilled water, and followed with a Turtle Wax Liquid Clay Bar, and had excellent results. I will try this weekend to remove the stains.
I LOVE this color (BFM), will have pics for tomorrow.
Still have so much to learn, I probably will have a hard time sleeping tonight, just thinking about what I can do with BFM.
As you can see, it doesn't take to much to make a guy over 50 happy, just get him an HHR SS and he (me) will supply the smiles....
I am so excited
just had to tell someone else my thoughts....
