2000 miles lovin it and oil change by 3000
There is no debate anylonger as the new engines today are built to have no need to go through break in.
The day you pick up your car the engine is ready to go. The MFG has a few things they do recomend in the first miles and then it open..
No need to change oil early. It will not hurt anything but your wallet.
Read your owners manual and not the web and just do as GM recomends. THis is all the info you need.
Trust your DIC oil life meter as it really works. We all have changed and thrown away a lot of very good oil over the years.
The quality of oil and the engines is not like it used to be so things have changed.

Thank you all for the input. Ill do what manual says and change when needed. but I will go with different oil filter, I remember also when they had a good product. Ill go with AC Delco and either Valvoline or mobile 1 full syn. We some spirited driving, and some sprints here and there. Ruby is 3-0 btw lol. Still havent got a 10 or below mustang to run me yet... But can say a PT cruiser GT, Mazda 6 and a Pontiac G6 all went down to our stock SS. STILL cant wait to get that GMPP turbo upgrade
Only thing I can think about Fram is that they're the only ones at Walmart, so maybe they had to cheapen down to get to the price that Walmart told them they have to be? I know Walmart is notorious for doing that.... If that's the case, Fram probably had to find ways to cut costs. Just my "suggestion" as I have no proof or evidence of that, just an idea.
IMO, it's good to change the oil early. In many of our new vehicles my family has owned, we usually get some metal shavings in the oil in the first oil change...so do you really want to risk that being in your engine more than it needs to be?

Crazy... right on. Agreed on both parts. Walmart is the devil....check! Changing the oil early. Hey Harley still tells you in the owners manual to change it at 1k, then if not to synthetic again at 2500, 5k, 7500, 10000. If syn every 5k. And that is just the regiment for the motor oil. Primary and trans go at intervals of like 10k. But once again I change all the fluids in all 3 holes at every oil change. Based off 1 philosphy.
Oil is cheap, motor and transmissions aren't!
Further, being I own these vechicles (not leasing) this time round... I also became an Amsoil dealer so I can get my oil at cost.

Fram sells the same filters everywhere not just walmart.....may be a cheep filter but they still work as thousands are cars are driven everyday on them.....Harley is a air cooled monstrosity that is the most volitile atmosphere for oil in any engine...Harley also wants you to use THEIR oils..No comparison...You HAVE to change Harley oil regularly or it will turn to coal! I own one I know. The trans can go 10k on syn and its still clean and clear...the primary I think needs to be changed more often then the rest because of the clutches...the motor is subject to use....but usually 5k on syn oils....also use Amsoil in it because of the heat properties.About the only oil that wiil hold press at 100 outside temp at idle with a hot motor.....The HHR,,,,follow the book
Agree follow what GM says as they are holding the warranty for 100,000 miles and they know their engine better than anyone else.
Todays engines are tighter and cleaner than anything we have seen. Higher temps are the only real issue and the Syn oils deal with that.
The oil life meter is good and really works. It is there for a reason.
