You are accurate as many [not all] cat back systems that are duel outlet are more cosmetic and many time produce less HP.

A good example is the Flowmaster system for the 4th Gen Camaro. they make a duel cross flow system that looks and sounds great. Flow master also makes a single out let of the same system and it is good for 10 HP more as it has better flow.

GM also offered the Camaro SS and TA WS6 one year with a optional perfromance exhaust and it was a single outlet. It was good for 7 HP more per GM at 327 Hp.

Even though the Single Flowmaster is more HP I sell many more Duels. Sound and looks are the #1 thing most exhaust buyers are looking for.

There will be some systems that will make gains and have a duel outlet but use care in checking them out before you buy they all are not equal.

Many single cat back systems will out flow many duels. That is why they make them even though they are less popular.
