A squirt of spray lubricant might resolve that gummed up linkage

I'm thinking the latch/rods are sticky.
Thanks a lot. I may have to replace both.

I may have to start with that before replacing since it works most of the time. Thanks.

Yes I finally applied some WD40 and the lock movement is much more smooth. No resistance when turning the key. Finally able to lock the car. Still have the remote key fob issue but will leave with that.

Why don't you change the battery of the remote fob, i am sure it will work after replacement. xxxxxxx has suggested me this idea when i am having issues with remote fobs.

Guess you didn't read the thread. The part where he got a new remote and got a new battery but still had issues.

You should check if the fob locks and unlocks the hatch, even when it doesn’t work for the doors. It’s on a different circuit. I was having trouble with the door locks in my 2008, even when I pulled the door locks fuse, the hatch still worked with the remote. Checking that might provide some insight as to what’s going on.

Head to the auto parts store for a free battery load test.

You could remove the fob and keep it in your pocket, leaving the key in the ignition(for whoever comes along).
