like tonight here at work i got this kick but beef stew my wife made and i dont have a fork ! trying to eat it with 2 flimsy straws is not working and making me more hungry lol.

I don't park any vehicles in my garage. But last year we had a big storm and one of the window shutters ripped off and fell onto my truck, leaving some scratches. I buffed most of it out, but you can still see some of the damage.

So I guess you can't win either in or outside the garage.

Put a safety catch cable(about 3/16" or 1/8") through each spring and anchor it securely at both ends(with U-bolts). It won't affect normal door operation because the cable will go through the center of the spring. That way if the spring breaks or the lift cable breaks it will contain the spring instead of allowing it to flail about or fly off.

Please listen to Steve on this. The previous owner not only did not do this, but had the springs at the wrong angle. When one did break, it missed my head by mere inches. Problem fixed now...
