Hello! I dug up my notes about the axles. It seems that I only had the following written down:
Precision GM-8048 (they are supposedly 1/4" shorter than OEM axles so they seem to be okay for lowered cars)
I did skim up through the old posts in this thread. Although I have not read them entirely, some possible solutions did jump out at me. So I would suggest going through this thread entirely. Best of luck and keep us posted.
FWIW, Based on my research on this website and all the discussions, I ended up installing a pair of TrakMotive GM-8206 axles from Rock Auto and new seals a couple of years ago in my 2009 SS. Seemed like the best choice to me at the time, and I haven't any problems. So, all is good...

"They look the same " was in relation to the 2 posts, not the 2 parts. GM-8206 is the part number in both posts, I don't understand why the question was asked. I guess failure to notice the preceding 111 posts of the thread is the cause.
Everyone that has done the job knows about the stub on the passenger side. There are vendors that sell Left and Right axles for LS/LT that don't require the stub. SS uses different axles than LS/LT. The stub is considered part of the trans not the axle.
Can confirm GM-8048 and GM 8206 both fit a 2009 auto SS. GM8048 drivers side and GM8206 passenger side. They are both on the car now with factory suspension. Only mix and matched because that is what was available. I think the 8048 fits best. Oreilys lifetime axles work just fine and to be honest I feel like the boots are better than factory.
