I wouldn't even consider putting it back together with the old ring. Check with ZZPerformance about the grit ball hone to use.
I don't have experience with ZZP's parts. These appear to be Nippon piston rings. Is Nippon a reputable brand?

Wow, I've searched all over the internet, called a machine shop, called a GM Parts Center. Oddly enough, nobody can tell me what the OEM rings are, cast iron, chrome, or moly. I guess I'll just go with an aftermarket with a known, published material type so I then know how to hone the cylinder for the correct finish.

Yes Nippon is good.
It looks like the price for rings on one piston though from ZZP.
On RockAuto for a 2010 LNF

Are your rings OEM? If they are original, then logically the Nippon rings are OEM also.
ZZP has a great reputation for parts for our little trucklets.

Please show proof on this.
Two companies I have trust in are Sealed Power and Clevite that's sold from RockAuto.
Note; Sealed Power is out of stock that means Clevite to buy. If you order use the drop down and select standard.
Use the 5% discount also.

Just look at the ring composition of the two first.
Use the 5% discount also.
I was strongly considering the Sealed Power option at RockAuto. What is the 5% discount?

The proof they are OEM rings is in the fact they were in the engine since new, therefore OEM.
unless anybody tore the LNF down and put in the Nippon rings.

May the fourth and that discount be with you !
