If it's so easy and takes so little time, why not change the sensors in the dealership parking lot, then drive it in to have them flash it? You'd save some money that way. If you park close enough to the building they could even do it outside if their wireless is set up properly.

Ha Ha thats true. If I remember correctly, parts associated with the GMTU actually add another 12K to the warranty.... or it might just be parts and labor for 12K after install, can't remember which.

My car is at 91,000 miles. Not much of a warranty left. It's probably an additional warranty on the parts

Good idea but according to the instructions."We do not recommend that the vehicle be driven to the dealership to be flashed after the new sensors have been installed. However,if this does occur, please ignore all codes until the new calibration is received."
Wouldn't save any money because the dealer has already stated that it is going to be a 2 hr labor charge based on book time.
Could also be a warranty issue if I did some of the work myself.(mine is a 2010 and still under warranty)
Also still unclear on the question of removing the lower tube. I wish some others would read my previous posts and share their opinions. Thanks.

I always believed that if you start pinching minutes with any technician or trades person, they'll cut corners and you have yourself to blame, although many people will blame them anyway.

I happily gave them the 2 hrs labor that they asked for and the car lasted 2 years without any issues that others have had from poor installs. My dealer also created the adequate clearance between the lower TMAP and the A/C piping. Bust their shoes and they may not go this extra length. And by the time the wiring gets pinched and frayed, the warrantee may be out...

If people want to go cheap, a base LS might be in order instead of an SS. And they can run 87 octane to save a few more pennies, but life might not be as fun in the car...
