New Shoe Options?

Hey guys looking at getting some new shoes for the ss. I am looking at the indy 500s. My mother swore by them and used nothing but on her 96 camaro ss. My question though is will the stock rim fit 245/45? According to tire rack they fit 7.5-9 just wanted to double check. Need something with a little more grip. I'm running close to 300whp and there's no traction till 3rd/70+mph lol currently on kuhmo ecsta pa31s 225/45 -_-

Give the Rim/Tire calculator linked below a try, just input your particulars, and play around with various size combos.

Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com

Just remember the Cardinal Rule when fitting tires up to an HHR, don't exceed an O.D. of 26-26.2", otherwise you'll find the inner edge of the tire/sidewall hitting the lower front spring perches.

The 245x45 should be way too tall....but these are 245x45.....the only way to know for sure is to try one on.

245-45-18's will fit on a stock SS rim.
But that combo won't fit on the HHR SS car. It's too tall and will rub the lower strut perch.

SSFan, are your 18's a different offset than the factory 42mm?

...Man I can't wait for spring. I have a set of 245/45's sitting that I could try if the weather would just break. (And I mean break for the warmer side, not get so cold it breaks :-)...seems to be going the other way rightnow)

Those wheels have a 40 off set and are 8". You will just have to mount one up and see if it fits..What tires do you have, these are Michelins.

So you have a little more backspace, but a wider wheel. Based on my calculator, you should actually be closer to the suspension than I would be with the stock wheel.

We'll see if that holds true in reality.

The tires are Goodyear Eagle RS-A's that I had from another project. Not the best, but if I don't have to spend money on new ones....it's always a plus!

Coilovers give you a wider range of tire size to choose from.....something that SSfan forgot to mention
