You’re gonna have to build one!

there is a regular subwoofer from GM for our car,
Rumor has it this one is not bad,
the manufacturer has provided a regular place in the trunk for it (if I'm not mistaken, behind the left side trim),
perhaps even wiring exists too.
Most importantly, it does not eat up the volume of the cargo compartment - it's nice.

You can install the factory subwoofer in an HHR that didn't originally come with one. The wiring will not be there and I wouldn't recommend trying to hook the factory amp up to a stock head unit of a car that didn't come with a sub. You can just hook the sub to an amp of your choosing. If I remember correct, the factory sub is a dual voice coil Pioneer unit. It's not going to win any bass competitions, but it does have pretty dynamic range and it is definitely out of the way.

You'd also have to make a speaker grill, or use one from the donor car (or, get the whole driver's side panel, if it's the same color).

The stock head unit is the same only the wires are labelled differently. Basically used as a pre-amp.

Don't expect thump from the factory subwoofer. When I added a second amp and sub, it was like night and day. Big smile
