This thread leads to one obvious question: Why did GM ever bother to offer a 'standard' seat in an 'SS' vehicle? "Yeah, I want the totally badass high performance version of the HHR, but don't put the cool seats in it." Weak.

Cool Seats

So, this brings me to a question... Can I purchase the new performance seat for the driver and passeger side, and will they fit correctly in my '08 model. I swear I do not remember anything about a different seat availability. If, so, I sure missed out. I did by mine early '08. I wonder if this was not an option yet???

A yellow marker. I also did the stiching on the stearing wheel.

Check this thread out. the cushion number for the drivers seat is 25872634.

I will have to see if I have the box yet for the cover for the Ebony and red cover part number.

The drivers side would be a straight coversion and would not need any mods. the passenger side need the cushion modified and cover side skirt changed a little to make it work.

It is an easy conversion even with the mods and tool just over an hour to do including removing the seat.

If I can't find the number C2 may have it yet from his.

The passenger seat was not our when I did mine for parts as it was so new. They may have parts now?

Yes you can and it is easy. it may run you near $300 unless you can get better prices. My cost was $180 so I could save a little with my connections.

If you can find a whole seat they so come up on E bay but that would be more $$.

I beleive it was offered as an option as one they did not know how popular it would be, two to keep the cost down.

Once they started to raise the price they made the driver seat standard and then a couple months later raised the price again and made the passenger seat standard.

The wholw HHR deal has been about trying to keep it cheap. They could have really done up the HHR but how many people would pay over $30,000 + for an HHR. Most are sold for under $20K so GM has just tried to contain the cost for the buyer and keep it profitable for them. Hence why many things are optional and some things on the HHR are cheap.

So to make the conversion on the drivers side only we need just the foam/cover correct?
