Because I assembled everything about a week before I installed the calipers, the compound had a long time to cure and may have been effectively "thicker" maybe that is why mine are still quiet after many miles and some hard use. Did you put it between the shims and the backing plates (like I did), or on the shim and backing plate after they were assembled together?

The paste I cleaned off was between the shim and pad and the caliper so I put it back on both. It looked thick like the brake quiet but since that wasn't working and the advice I read from CRC (previous post above) I used the brake grease since it has a shim. I didn't put alot on just a thin coat maybe it wasn't enough.

May have an answer

I talked to a tech at Superior Chev (Hendrick shop) and he told me about a product that some of them use for persistant squeak that's made by BG that you put on the brake pad and let it soak in. I'm going to try it as I don't have as much squeal but it's still bad at times, here is the url for it:
http://www.bgfindashop.com/bgservices/brake.htm I'll let you know how it works if the weather eases up to get it done

Yikes! I definitely DO NOT like the idea of treating the brake pad surface with anything. Brake pad compounds are all carefully determined by the mfg (Ferodo in this case) and I am sure they would have alot to say about the application of anything other than a proper degreaser to the surface of the pad. Others please chime in.

Whats the difference between that and soaking tires..oil additives..fuel additives...chemical coatings on internal engine parts. There's a butt load of aftermarket improvers out there that actually work. I highly doubt that anyone in their right mind would sell something like that for brakes knowing the repercussions of failure would be a total wipeout! Granted there are shady deals out there , but they wouldn't be life threatening if they failed. As with all products..they arn't for everybody. And each circumstance may have different results.Would I try it? Perhaps, after Ive tried the all true and knowing remedies. As long as it doesn't attack the bonding properties of the the materials, it could very well enhance to braking, noise qualities of the brakes. This is one of those, who is the source, who has tried it, what were the results?
Could be..another new school product versus old school thinking..........I'm sure as with anything of this nature, that after awhile when it wears off it may need repeated treatings..or may become ineffective after so many times as the material properties have changed. How many products out there were originally questioned but went on to become quite popular? Make for good topic though!

Thumbs up

Well I treated the pads with the BG stop squeal and so far no squeal or any other side effects.

Hmm. My non brembo's squeak in reverse when it's damp out. Annoys the crap out of me.

So the brembo's squeak from the factory and we are told to apply an aftermarket fix to quiet them down. Anyone else see what's wrong with this?

You pay $800 give or take for LSD and brembos and have to apply a "self fix".

WTF?

and BTW, I'd never ever ever (ect) apply a spray on to fix the brakes. Never. That's just plain uh, well..........

Mine '09 SS just started squeaking like crazy since the temp has cooled off. Really embarrassing when I pull up to the gate going on base.
