SS Wheel Insurance from Dealer - Worth it?
I opted out since my wife won't likely be driving it much (she loves her CIVIC) and I plan on getting a set of winter rims and tires. That said, I've had it back to the dealer for service one week after purchase because I had a bad seal on the RF wheel. Fixed at no charge, BUT had it been a nail or a cracked rim, I'd been out of pocket until I went after the dealer where I bought it. (the tire was flat when it was on the lot)

I would never buy this insurance again. I purchased this on my 04 impala ss and we got a flat about 3 months after we bought the car. It was a side wall tear so it could not be repaired. I submitted a claim for the tire which cost about 275 for a match to the other 3. The company that the insurance was through denied my claim without explaination. I appealed the decision and it was denied again without explaination. The last step would have been arbitration with the contract required which would have been at my cost. I got ripped off big time on this one. I compalined to the dealer and they stated that this had happend to many of the other folks who bought this insurance and that because of this they no longer offer this insurance.
I learned the hard way, and I read contracts very closely now. I agree with the folks that have said it may be better to just watch your driving for two years and save yourself the money.

Just something more to pack the payments...
Extended warranties through the vehicle manufacturer are the way to go, but only if you're planning on keeping the car for a long time. With the powertrain warranties the way they are now, the GMPP is good for stuff like malfunctioning electronics or broken interior pieces.
As for buying a quality product the "first time around", there is no product assembled by man that's not going to break at some point. Whether you buy a Chevy, BMW, or Honda, chances are something is going to break and more likely it'll happen outside of the standard warranty period.
