Good thing for happily ending stories, especially with your mom-in-law. Must be a relief for the family.

In I gear, when you are using the brakes as well, something detects it and tells the transmission to help you slow down even more; try it on a steep slope, you'll see. I can make mine downshift earlier by applying the brakes.
