update...update.....

upon further observation, I did another check on the front door SS emblems, and the SS is really off. The back SS letter is lower, so I have to either heat the area and realign, or have the dealer do it. Have to think about this one. That assembly worker must have had a bad day, between my chiclets, SS emblem not being straight, and the running board in place of the ground effects all on the left side of the vehicle, I am lucky the doors are where they are supposed to be......

My SS emblem on the right side seems to be not attached correctly. Not lower or anything, but the top right corner doesn't seem to be attached (ie no sticky strip on the top.

That's enough of a gripe for me to ask the dealer to do something about it when it goes into to cure the road rash it incurred in transport on the back gate. Will also get him to remove the dealer sticker (if I don't get it done myself...but its a bugger and not as easy as I though) I requested not to be put on but did, and possibly the back "SS" emblem so I can put something else there, before they do the paint protecction.

In your case, while somehat humouros, its ridiculous that it passed through the 3 or 4 quality control inspections with that. Certainly the running board. Obviously you're on one of the ones GM doesn't want JD Power contacting.

I'd keep track (picture proof) of all these issues just for yourself in case yeah, something terminal goes wrong down the road that is a result of something else getting missed at the factory.

I'd be pretty concerned about a lot of things based on that screw up and those little ones, as it means somebody somewhere didn't do their job. You never know, they may have put on the wrong non SS brakes, or put in non synthetic oil, or washer fluid where coolant was supposed to be etc. Just my opinion, and not to be too anal, but if I were you, I'd be checking out a lot of things I and we all would take for granted as being proper on a $30K brand new car built in 2008.

Hope everything is ends up being a-ok!

OK you don't have to be particularly anal to be bothered by that one.
There was a tale about a car being built at an Austin plant in England many years ago (probably about 30, since I believe it was an '1100' sedan), that the worker on one side of the weld jig loaded a 2 door fender and rocker panel, and the one on the other side loaded a 4 door version, and this went down the line with subsequent operations fitting doors, seating and trim to suit the configuration visible on that side, rather than according to the build sheet, and this was noticed only at the end of line inspection that they'd built the only 3 door car to ever come off that line.
My father's first Austin had different plates front and rear, and my first Ford has different color plugs filling the fastener recesses in the interior trim. Admittedly the difference in color was slight, but they were definitely from different spec interiors.

CGYHHRSS, you really have me thinking now , I have been checking everything that I can think of, and in another thread that I started, about under hood observations, I do have a concern about the ECM and the plastic holders that secure the ECM on my vehicle. The Left Side plastic clip or holder, if you will, does not fit tightly, or as tightly as I would like, may have to let the dealer know about that. The factory must have picked up on that also, because there is a white pencil mark (line) on the specific area I am talking about.

hey Jay are you keeping your SS/SC or trading for the SS/TC Cobalt? I was really thinking about the SS/TC Cobalt during the time I was looking the HHR SS. I am really happy with the SS, but I would like to have the SS/TC Cobalt as well

I have had several cars with SC on them, never had a turbo car. I really like the HHR SS 5-speed, nice amount of pep'. I have friends that have some trendy STI's and that type of thing, turbos are cool, they sound awsome, the power band is great, I just dont think they are for me. The first car me and my father build was a big blocked pinto with a small huffer on it, yes a siad huffer and pinto in the same sentence, haha. Every sence then I have been hooked on the whine and smooth power from the SC. It took me about two years to find the Cobalt I wanted, I love it, its amazing, with the gm stage kits, and all the goodies its really something special. I wanted one from day one when I still worked at a chevy dealer, but never could afford one till recently, Im only 25. My SS is an 06 double black, and only has about 13K on it, for me to trade it in on a new SS/TC, it would have to be something pretty special, clean, and really hold up to the SS name. Ive been doing my research on the DI engine and I am very pleased, being they are rated right for the 260hp out of the box, thats impressive being that I am staged and only making about 173!! Im sure I will test drive the crap out of them when they come out. But Im not 100% sold on them quite yet, even thought they are really temping, haha..

Hey, I know I break your stones for you from time-to-time, but all in good fun you seem to know quite a bit about the SC, and alot more than me on the TC's also. so keep that info coming on the forum, I am sure that as you and other's get into the LNF and how DI really works, you and others will be able to provide some good tips, especially to the over
"50" guys like myself who aren't that well versed with Turbo's. It will be fun to learn.....post some pics of your Balt, I am sure we would all like to see.
PS you would be just the guy to further research the actual power output of the Auto of what it's really putting out GM has been know to "under rate" HP from time-to-time, and this may be no exception, as the latest vid from GM on one of the SS Cobalt sites starts off by saying, "With over 260 HP" now that is very interesting....

Thanks, Ive always had limited funds, and two or three cars, so research for me is very important. I do belive that you should know what your buying if its an SS or an econ car. Its just good to sit on the internet for a few weekends before you go lay down 20+ grand riiight?? I hate it more than anything when people buy a brand new car then complain about it? Just doesnt make much any sense to me? I know there is a diff between taking note and complaining, but it seems like there are some very un-happy SS owners out there, haha. Ive never had a brand new car, so maybe I dont know what Im talking about, haha. My HHR had about 6K on it when I got it, newer, but still not new!

Me get data on an Auto?.... Maybe some day hahaha... No really I drove an auto HHR SS before I dorve the 5-speed. I Honestly Belive the auto is quicker in a bone stock application. The four speed over the five speed in a boosted application in theroy would be a better idea. Less fun yes, but faster! More time under high boost to pull the car in prime rpm range. I dont know if there are real numbers out there yet, but Im sure people are going to be suprised when autos, start taking 5-speed on the track. Im not a big fan of the auto's, but those little bastards are peppy. The only autos I have ever owned have been 50+ years old, so I cant speak much about the newer stuff, seems like they will hold up just fine though... My stones are just fine, I know its all in good fun.
BTW You Have Best New Color SS
Here Is My SS, There Are Many Like It, But This One Is Mine.
