new member here, found lots of good stuff, but have a problem with this mod.

bought all the parts from GMparts direct, went by courthousedeb's fabulous directions, cut the wires to cruise control, reassembled and wa-la, no power or lights to cruise or radio buttons. removed air bag again and checked all connections and still no workie. checked fuses and they are all ok, so ordered new harness locally to be here tomorrow. in mean time soldered old harness back together and going to reinstall it, don't have DIC either, any suggestions will be greatly apprefciated.

The cruise controll and radio buttons don't light up. The only light is in on the cruise on/off button to let you know it's on.

Did you disconnect your battery during the install? If you didn't you could have possibly touched a wire to something and blew a fuse or two.

Edit: Never mind I reread your original post.

good question Capt, but yes I did disconnect the battery and the only fuse I find is steering wheel illumination, no cruise fuse, am going to reinstall old harness after lunch, thanks for the help so far.

I haven't done this yet but from what I've heard the wiring harness is a couple wires different. Make sure the colors match on both sides of the plugs. I've heard it's pretty easy to change too. Good luck!! JR
