I called my local dealer today to see what numbers they would come up with. For the record, I have an '07. The harness that is shown in the steering wheel diagram comes up as not available separate....only comes with a new wheel. Knowing that plenty people have got the harness by itself, I told him he must be mistaken. At least he was smart enough to try finding the harness a different way...he looked it up under the cruise control system. Low and behold, there it was!! Though it is listed as only working for the cruise (same part number that everyone has used previously though). My guess is that with the pin out change, the one that comes wired correctly is only available with the whole wheel. No worries, as it is easy enough to change. Now came the next issue. The bezel for the switch. Apparently there is 2 different colors in '07. Usually with the last 8 digits of a VIN the correct part (in this case color) is highlighted in the system. For some reason, my HHR is showing that both colors are correct Now, I then gave him a VIN for a different '07 HHR, and that one came up with only one color (not the one that everyone else has listed either)! So I have a 50% chance to get the right one the first time.

Been reading through all of these posts, and your info really helps me out as well. Mine is an 07 with the Cashmere interior/wheel and with what looks like grayish inserts for cruse and radio. When you get everything together, can you PM me all the numbers I would need for the install? thanks, steve

Well, my local dealer called GM Partech today. Part number 15234343 only has one large connector and two small ones. From my understanding the ones that everyone else got had three small connectors (and one large). Is that correct??

***edit***

Went back and looked for the picture I saw. Yes, the harness needs 3 small connectors and one large. I am having my local dealer order one to find out if there was a change without a part number change.

Just read through all of this, and I'm confused. My HHR is presumably an early '07, built 10/06 and bought as new 11/07, it has the buttons with the bevels top and bottom, and a dark grey cover. The pics here in the early posts show the flat buttons, apart from oneton's gallery, which are like mine. What's confusing me is that the 2008 HHR brochure I have shows the flat buttons. Is this the later style? Or is GM being cheap and using old photos in their brochure?

Hello pg318
The 06 Wheel buttons were flush with the bezel.
The 07 Wheel buttons are now raised with rounded edges, speaker symbol added. Only the cruz and mute (large) buttons remain flush. There is also a silver bezel for 07.

Yes the 08 brochure shows the 06 wheel.
See pics for details. Thanks other members for providing pics. I just put them together.

Looking further at the GM literature I see that the '07 and '08 HHR and Cobalt also show the '06 2.2 engine as well. I'm gonna complain that mine hasn't got the nice smooth plug cover, just the ugly coil packs.
At least I know which controls to order now, thanks.
