You are misinformed. The TPM sensors are inside the tires attached to the valve stems. The receiver is under the headliner near the mirror.
There are wheel speed sensors in the hubs, they get wet whenever it rains.

Gotcha. If it comes on again I’ll just swap the tires to see if it comes on for the passenger side. The tire place said the TPS was ok.

Never been successful with the procedure in the manual, and it’s a PITA anyway. My tire dealer used to screw it up but have gotten better. Best luck is to take it to my Chevy dealer. They do it in about a minute, no charge.

Probably because many 2010 all 2011 needs the tool, not the release procedure.

Well it's been several days and few hundred miles and not saying there's cause and effect - maybe just coincidence - but the TPMS light hasn't come back on. If it does, I'll explore the other avenues, but for now, all's good.
