Advice on another Chevy-2002 S-10 ZR-2

Don't want to join another forum just to ask a couple questions and I KNOW there are enough gearheads here for advice Looking into a new huntin' buggy (needless to say the HHR SS certinaly lacks in offroad cpability)and came accross a nice 2002 S-10 extended cab ZR-2 4x4. Thing looks new and drives new and the price is right. However, it's push button 4x4 and the light only comes on when you push it to change drive then goes off again. 4x4 works flawlessly but wondering if I even need to be concerned that the lights dont stay on.

Ie. in 2wd, push the 4wd Hi button and the light comes on till it engages then goes back off. Does it going back to 2wd or 4lo the same. And advice would be appreciated.

If the light is not staying on it could be the front axle acctuator is not functioning. Test drive it on dry road for a few feet if the 4 wheel is working you will feel it in the steering wheel when cornering, Don't go too far it isn't too good for it on dry road....if it is the acctuator its an easy fix that don't cost too much

Took it to a local dirt lot and tried 4hi and 4lo. They work great. Even the 2wd light doesn't stay on so I don't think it would be the actuator but I'm not that familiar with the system. Personally I never minded getting out to lock my hubs and then jamb the lever in....guess people want to off-road without getting their feet dirty
