Groundhog Day 2012
Well for those of you in Northern climes, the news came this morning from up on Gobbler's Knob that the world famous rodent Punxsutawney Phil had seen his shadow meaning another six weeks of winter.
Now when I lived up in New York and Pennsylvania for a couple of years, the prognostications of that confused rodent were either met with glee or threats to turn him into a fur hat.
So I thought I'd get a second opinion, this afternoon I backed "Piedmont Paddy" the polished prognosticator out of the garage and well, ummm....sorry but he saw his shadow too. Oh well, maybe next year.

Groundhogs in at least six other states - Chattanooga's Chattanooga Chuck,
West Virginia's French Creek Freddie, Georgia's Gen. Beauregard Lee,
Michigan's Woody the Woodchuck, Ohio's Buckeye Chuck, and New York's Staten Island Chuck (full name: Charles G. Hogg) - did not see their shadows. Nor did Ontario's Wiarton Willie or Nova Scotia's Shubenacadie Sam.
Chattanooga Chuck tweeted about warm, wet weather..
