A few years ago, we were told eggs were bad for you, now the've changed their minds. Then the same with all fats, now it's only saturated fats. I'm just waiting on them to say being fat is healthy. Then, I'll be in good shape.

I've hit a brick wall I started at 194 and I'm now 189, and can't get lower. Guess I'm going to have to increase the excersize and decrease the food. We are also having a fitness challenge at work that I have signed up for where your goal is 10,000 steps per day. I make that goal easliy, and have actually had several days over 20,000 steps. Starting today I'm going to buckle down even harder and get this wieght off, keeping my origional goal of 170 lbs by the august run to the Dells.

BTW it was a tough weekend for me since my wife made my favorite dessert for fathers day, gooey butter cake. Needless to say I ate the whole thing in one weekend . Oops. thats my one weakness .

Join the club. I've had Type II for about 7 years now. Everything went to hell when I hit forty. I used to be able to eat anything. Now the littlest thing raises my sugar. Was on Avandia but now they say it gives yo heart attacks. Was on insulin but the doc says really insulin is a catch 22. It makes you fatter and then the fatness gives you worse insulin resistance. On top of that too much insulin floating around in your blood can increase certain types of cancer, like colon cancer. Have I depressed anybody yet? The only real solution is to work out constantly and eat like a bird and get skinny like a damn rail. Life sucks and then you die! I'm the kind of guy, probably like a lot of you guys, that grew up eating a lot. I mean 10 white castles and two fries and a shake was just a start. I was skinny too. 6' 4" and 195. Now I'm 235! Can still eat like a kid but sugar goes way up. What was that old saying about life being a crab sandwich?

6'4" and 235 lbs is not fat in my book. But if weight loss is the recommended treatment, I guess you have to do it.

Gooey Butter Cake! I can almost taste it. I, too, had to give up most baked goods because they were definitely my downfall. Now I grab a handful of cereal when I need something a little sweet. Have you guys tried those 100 calorie snack packs? The Chips Ahoys are ok but the Oreos are terrible. A glass of milk didn't even help to wash them down.

I hate dieting!

Yes I have tried those cookies and they are gross. Everything diet is gross. The sugar free candy taste good but gives you gas and the hershey squirts! I read somewhere that they had developed a chocolate that didn't use the sugar alcohols that give you digestive trouble but have been unable to find them. Everything I eat raises my sugar anyway. Bread, crackers, anything good! The sugar free/fat free ice cream is gross too. Rather not eat it at all.If I eat cereal most will raise my sugar. Oats are okay but not a lot. Okay, tired of crying.

I'm 5'5" and 165 as of last week. My exercise did consist of some sit-ups, push ups, and a 2 mile walk. This past winter I was laid up from surgery so I did put on a few. Just recently my heart disease has really been acting up. I did start a brand new long duration medication for chest pain, so I hope this does the trick. I need to get back into the swing of things before the meds (as of today I am on 15 ) take over and blow me up. BTW - Just hit 50 in March.

johnnypatrick...

Are you using the glycemic index.??? If not you should be. I tried it about 15 years ago, when it was a DIET FAD, authored by Barry Sears. I discovered I could control my blood glucose problems better my utilizing his theorium. Now, everyone says it's The One.

Have you noticed at a certain age sit-ups no longer have much affect on the abdominal area? I do stomach exercise to strengthen my lower back. The abs are hard but the excess above them will not go away, no matter how many I do.

By the way, who says you'll live longer if you're skinny? My dad is 74 and he's been overweight my entire life!
