Health/Life Challenge
Yeah, Thanks from me also....I just started wondering about the results of this thread yesterday.
I met my goal and exceeded it slightly. I'm down 6-7 pounds. But, I'm not sure that is reliably accurate because of our HOT WEATHER season (some water weight loss).
Don't give up, everyone. It's worth the battle.

Theresa and Stan, Great Job on your weight losses!! My diet has also changed tremendously. One negative of my new job is that I can only eat 1 big meal a day after a get home from work. Otherwise, I might suffer the consequences while standing out on the road
It's official....I got the results from my Doc yesterday, not only do i have high blood pressure, but I have borderline diabetes.
I'm just glad my insurance allows a full physical every year or who knows when i would have found out.
It looks like diet and exercises are in my future, either that or an earlier death that is possible. I'll make an appointment with a diabetes dietitian soon and I'm going back on the "10,000 Steps a Day" program.
I did the walking before and it worked well. The problem was I had a hernia and then a broken foot in the last six months and just haven't gotten the desire to start up again.
We went out last night for dinner and I had a BIG steak, lobster, shrimp, a 1lb. baked sweet potato, southwestern cheese dip and a salad. For desert, a pint of Ben & Jerry's! May as well go out in style!
I'm gonna eat what I want today too.
Monday, my new life needs to begin if I want to be able to watch my son grow up.

Mike, sorry to hear the bad news but like you said at least you found out before something drastic happened. My dad has both high blood pressure and diabetes as well so I try to watch what I eat. The exercise part went out the window when I started working 10-12 hours a day on top of drive times.
I've been trying to get back into shape as well. I'm not TOO overweight (I'm 6'0" even and really broad-shouldered) at 205lbs. I carry it well, but still have a bit of a gut.
I plan on joining the campus gym when I move in a month, since I'll be a 5 minute walk away from it. Then I'll be joining you, Hills.

It's soooo hard. But if borderline diabetes is enough of a wake-up call, go for it! My hubby was diagnosed with it several years ago, and because of good care and watching the carbs and sugar, he is almost medication-free. He can always tell, when the eating gets out of hand, the sugars rise...and the thought of taking bunches of pills usually straightens him out. As for me, I have the high BP but when I work outside or do my Richard Simmons, it drops. I know what I need to do, but...well...
I feel your pain. Same diagnosis here except add in arthritic knees which makes exercising very painful.
I was doing great and had lost 10 pounds when one son came home from college. I'm not eating my good dinners anymore. I love seafood but he hates it. I've also been buying snacks for them that temp me also. I've been doing my best to maintain but I know I need to lose at least another 10 before I go back to the doctor in August.
I find I get full so much faster which is a very good thing. I've been buying fresh fruit, no matter what it costs and have been drinking more water than diet soda. Apparently even carbonated diet drinks are not good for you. Those green tea and fruit additives for water taste great. I use them all the time!
