Yes! That was the one all right. Cortisol. So, if cortisol levels are naturally lower at night, that would be conducive to getting to sleep, I guess. Is that why they tell you not to engage in strenuous workouts in the evenings? Sometimes when I am feeling guilty about my eating and I can't sleep, I creep back to my recumbant bike and ride for a while -- except then I REALLY can't sleep.

Tomorrow I will eat right. Tomorrow I will exercise 45 minutes AND do some work in the garden, both very enjoyable when I force myself in/out there. Tomorrow I will drink lots of water.

Are those Sugar Free waters (Splenda) just as good as water water?

I am still working away here. I am enjoying the discussion. I'll be posting my update once a week. Here is the primary way that I plan to get more exercise:

For those of you with little ones, this bike seat is great. Good balance and your child is in sight at all times. I only have problems when she wants to steer :)

EDIT: Ignore the messy garage...this picture was taken on Saturday and I cleaned it out on Sunday. Still, it's kind of embarassing...

Wow, I've never seen a child seat like that. Must be the latest thing. We had them on the back of our bikes for the twins. We would ride for an hour while they both slept. Now that's quality family time!

btw fitday.com is a great free way to keep track of your intake totals forthe day/week etc. if they dont have the food you want to list, you can input it yourself and others can use it later.

This is a wonderful thread! And, on Monday April 2 we are starting a Weight Loss Challange at the place I work. Each person will pay $2.50/week, which will be matched $ for $ by the owner of the company. 12 week contest going by % of weight lost to determine winner! I'm a procrastinater (sp?) and have talked for the last year that I really needed to get back into something (I too have type 2 diabetes and high colesterol and a DR that would just LOVE for me to drop some weight!) The dietician that I met with when I was diagnosed with diabetes said to set goals, with a good rule of thumb for your first goal to loose 10% of what you weigh! So, on Monday when I get weighed in, I will be joining you all to improved health and longer lives! To get a start on things, I joined Curves for Women on the 28th! I figure if I have to pay $$ for it, and as cheap as I am, that it won't just sit there! LOL Good Luck to everyone~it's neat when you have friends to help cheer you on! Thanks!

How lucky you are to work for such a great company! My employer is Uncle Sam. Yes, I can take time off work to exercise but then I can't all my work done. I'll walk the dogs at home instead. Best of luck with your program!
