How Much did Gas Cost When You Started Driving?
Hmm.... It was around $2.50 or so I believe. But we got gas a Krogers, and we'd get 50 cents off a gallon each fill up, so I was very lucky, especially once gas hit the $4 mark!
I still remember getting gas with my grandpa about 15 years ago, and it was 96 cents.

I remember .25 for "white" gas...had to run across the street for mower gas.....first drive was around .35....remember working for 1.75 hr and recieved $300 month in the military..times were good!! .15 beer and .50 smokes...a slightly used 68 camaro SS with a 302/4 spd was 2995.00
I started driving 1963 and gas was $0.299 a gallon or there abouts. I was stationed in California in the early 70s and there would be gas wars. The gas on the base got down to $0.259/gallon.
I remember driving stopping in Elko, Nevada in 1970 and gas was about $0.529 and I left the station and continued on to Reno where gas was back in the $0.35 or so. On my way from Ca to NY in 1972, high test was running $0.37-0.43/gallon.. The 66 Pontiac I had (389 ci, 2bbl) ran on hi test which was around 100 octane or the car would ping like a champ.
The car was getting 17-18 mpg..not too bad in those days.

$.24 in southern Arizona in a small town the middle of nowhere. From age 14 to 16 I had scooters and a moped and would go around town to the three stations and drain the hoses after they closed and have enought to run the week.
