How about an interim stumper, that those of us at a certain age remember and would like to forget, and the youngsters have probably never heard of.

And its the Turbo version, so you had a throbbing 107 French hp to work with, lawnmowers truly cowered in the face of such a Gallic onslaught.

Drove one of these back in 1984 when they hit the market here with the turbocharged engine, so hopeless. But AMC/Renault sent me a postcard inviting me to enter the TURBO ZONE, so I just had to check one out for a giggle.

 

For the day, they were at least styled decently enough. There was even a wagon on the same platform, the '18' IIRC - sold here in the U.S., too.
