Love that commercial, and there is always something special about the 1957 Cadillac Series 70 Eldorado Brougham, ageless beauty and class.

Maybe not the most flattering color used back then, but still a potent sports car, so what is it?

Nope, not a Lamborghini, but you do have the country of origin.

Monteverdi was a Swiss car manufacturer.

Only 2 of the planned 49 1970 Monteverdi Hai 450 were built. The original one pictured was designated "SS" while the 2nd one with a little modifications was designated "GTS". Its name is derived from German meaning shark, while the 450 denoted the engine output. In 1990 an additional 2 were built that reside in the official Museum in Basel-Binningen.

Monteverdi apparently liked to use Chrysler V-8s, having put them in the "Hai", as well as his "High Speed".

You are so correct, sometimes its easy to think Italy instead of Switzerland, or at least while you're running on two hours of sleep. I'm so embarrassed, hangs head in shame, must clean garage floor with toothbrush in penance...me feel stupid now.

Mine first since they are closer, then we'll talk. So what do you have to confound and confuse us today?

On a side note, those Cadillac Eldorado Broughams were quite the thing. I hear Cadillac lost a bundle on every one, even though they were priced waaay above the price of any other Cadillac. Cadillac was attempting to compete with Rolls an Bentley at the time. For a while, back in the '80's or so, these made excellent investment / collector cars - not very expensive, although I hear they were really complicated electrics-wise, and with the air suspension (which was replaced by most everybody with coils...)
