ok
no really. Here it is:
Sunburstcris signs up for the site as premium member at the tender age of 14.
He then procedes to participate in the forum and all of its aspects, responding to threads, posting some jokes (with questionable content) and participating in the chat feature.
He then procedes to enter the ride of the month, where the members decided to ruffle his feathers about whether or not he actually owned the vehicle he was submitting (possibly dads?) and commenting of his age.
SBC responds with this thread to ask for the taunting to cease and allow his entry into ROTM, claiming full ownership of his Chevy.
Conflict/Discussion questions:
Should an underage person have a premium membership when paypal requires you to be 18?
Should a 14 year old participate in dungeon discussions where other members assume that everyone is an adult (hence anything goes)?
Should a 14 year old be able to participate and submit a vehicle for ROTM?
Are there any age limits to the site or any of its areas, or should members always conduct themselves as if there are youngins among us?
Should age limits be set for certain areas privileges, or are the passive requirements enough?
Homework:
Research youth participation in internet forums. Note examples of how adult content is managed. Be prepared to debate whether or not youth access to typically adult websites is a problem.
There is a family-oriented HHR site, this is not it.
I want to make it very clear to you that I am not trying to cause you grief, like I expained in the PM I sent you. It's just that you were misrepresenting yourself and becuase of that got access to an area of the site which is "anything goes", unappropiate for a person your age, 14.
And I'm sorry but you can try to expain it away any way you like, cultural or not, in the U.S. it is against the law for a minor to enter a contract and that includes titling a car before they are legal driving age. If you can't legally drive, you can't legally own a car, period.
Other members can/will slam me for that, whatever.....
actually sindy told me it was a family site. ask her. and she is a moderator, so if she tells me it is then it is. the car is not under my name. i think i stated that already. the car is under my moms name.
