I may be in the minority with this, but I think usinr rebadged Opels in the US as Saturns is a good idea. It didn't work with the Ford Mondeo/Contour, but GM doesn't need Saturn to have those type of sales numbers. By bringing true "European Style" to Saturn GM will have a brand to compete against other "upscale" small cars like VW and Subaru.

GM does have to do a better job at not competing against itself. Before, people probably did look at the Ion and Cobalt and marvel at the similarities. At least now, going to the Saturn dealership will mean seeing cars with a bit more flare. Hey, look at the awards the Aura is garnering!

GM wants a car to compete with anything the competition has to offer (whether they accomplish that is up for debate) and this fills a hole. Cobalt vs. Civic, Malibu vs. Camry, now we have Astra vs. Golf.

Just my

Good thinking, krishaynes...

I just hope GM learned a valuable lesson from the Opel/Cadillac (repaira Catara)relationship.

But as you suggested, the Aura appears to be a welcomed addition.

I kinda like the look of that. Nice sleek lines. Wouldn't trade my HHR for it...but it's definitely a nice looking car.

I love the Astra. I was hoping to pick one up when they came out but I had to purchase now. I ended up with a Saturn Aura (an incredible car that is also a great value). Maybe when the HHR's time is up I can pick up an Astra...of course the new Saturn Outlook would be great for moving around the young ones.

My sentiments exactly. Looks like everything. HHR only looks like a PT....a bigger better PT.

The Durango is more similar to the whole truck line at Chrysler. The evolution of the Durango came from the Dakota P/U which came from the Big Ram design.
