Are you a car nut?
OMG - that Bonneville looks so huge! Here's a question - when you start a labor of love like that, do you start with the insides and finish up with the exterior, or vice versa? Do you have a vision in your mind of what it will look like on the outside when it's finished? Somehow, I'm not feelin' the brown
.I really thought the Geo Tracker was cute, and the gas mileage of those cars was incredible!! But, drove the tracker once, and only once --- I thought it would turn over on one of my "Turn left HERE -- right HERE!!!" turns.
Hey Grohlinator - what's a Grohlinator? My friend bought herself a brand new Saab many years back and is was the first time I'd seen a 4-dr with a hatch with seats that laid down...all that stuff. I knew than, I would never buy another car without that versatility.
I am a certifiable car nut. How do I know? I have tried to get an in to purchase three classic vehicles I have seen on roadsides ... and only one of them is even made by a manufacturer that's still around. The cars, in order of when I tried to get them:
'59 Cadillac Series 63 Executive Car
'48 Packard
'49 Frazer
How much crazier am I now? When (if) I retire, I want to rent a flatbed, go to Arizona, and pick up salvage cars on roadsides.

My Dad was a Studebaker Packard dealer in the very early 50's, and I will never forget seeing the first Golden Hawk on his showroom floor. Of course, it was the "show" model, and really really gold in color. I love the look of the old Packards and they are hard to find. I SURE don't know what a Frazer is, though.
Hey, we have this metal junk dealer around here, and he has picked up cars in cornfields, roadsides, etc for decades. They are sitting in a row and there's this one - it's like a small square schoolbus size, and OMG would I love to make a mini-RV out of it -- it just sits there and I WANT IT!
Are you near Niagara Falls? I might get to come on hubby's next business trip to East Aurora and he's going to take me there.
Grohlinator is just Grohl ( The last name of my rock idol Dave Grohl) with inator on it. I know, I'm really creative
That thing would hook a corner doing highway speeds and not even lean the slightest. Might of been a bear to keep clean w/ the rims and tires sticking out so much, but made a clover leaf on ramp really fun!!
Coyote - is that your new Imperial Blue in the avatar - did you do that already?? So Stitch II is already in the forums...cool.

Yep, my avatar car is Stitch II, just picked him up Monday.
Frazer is from a short-lived car company called Kaiser-Frazer from the late '40s to about ... I want to say 1955. Not very popular, but they have a unique look to them, as well as an unusual powertrain: they were powered by 3.7 liter I6 industrial engines which were originally designed for stationary use, but were converted for use in cars. The company had four badges over its history: Kaiser, Frazer, Kaiser-Frazer and Henry J.
In face, I'm about 10-15 minutes south of the Falls. Let me know when and if I can get there, we can do a mini-meet.
Certified car nut. Born and raised in Flint, Michigan (home to Billy Durant and GM's roots). I used to be a certified mechanic. At 33, I've owned more than 15 cars and I know the current market top to bottom. I can identify any mid-80's and newer car in the dark by it's light signature and I (sadly) have memorized the minutiae of changes that are made to cars year-to-year. I used to work in the auto industry until I was, ahem, excused in 2002. I've been trying to figure out how to make money off of what I know but have only been able to help friends and family find little known gems that they end up loving. Maybe it's best that cars are my passion and not my lively hood.
BDUBSEE -- you really ARE a car knowledge-nut too - sometimes it IS sad that we can't use the strange bundle of data that's in our brains to MAKE a bundle. For example, I have perfect pitch. Even as a musician, it's actually useless. How did you do that HHR MATER?? He's a honey!
